Where in Perdido Key to we meet our guests?
Our primary pickup location is centrally located at Orange Beach Boulevard (Orange Beach Blvd, Orange Beach, AL 36561). This launch spot gives us rapid access to the best fishing grounds across both Florida and Alabama.

How much should I Tip?
It is customary to tip 20% of the trip total. Captain Brian works tirelessly behind the scenes and on the water to ensure you have a highly productive and enjoyable guest experience.
Do I need to bring my own gear?
No, we provide all the necessary, high-quality gear, including rods, reels, tackle, and bait, so you do not need to worry about a thing. However, you are always welcome to bring your own favorite rod and reel if you prefer.
What fish are biting in Perdido Key right now?
Right now in June, the highly anticipated red snapper season is officially open, making them the primary target offshore. Nearshore, king mackerel and Spanish mackerel are actively feeding along the beaches. If you are fishing inshore around Big Lagoon or Perdido Bay, early morning trips are producing excellent numbers of speckled trout, slot redfish, and flounder.
What is the best month for Red Snapper fishing?
June is undeniably the best month for red snapper fishing. The federal for-hire red snapper season reliably opens on June 1st, making the early summer window the absolute peak for targeting these prized reef fish. Because this season is strictly regulated and highly popular, our calendar books up rapidly. To secure a trip, planning months in advance is essential.
What fish can you catch in Orange Beach?
Orange Beach offers a highly diverse fishery depending on your target waters. Inshore trips consistently yield redfish, speckled trout, flounder, and black drum. When heading offshore into the Gulf of Mexico, target species shift to red snapper (during the summer season), vermilion snapper, king mackerel, cobia, and hard-pulling amberjack. Captain Brian tailors each trip to target what is biting best that day.
What fish can you catch in Gulf Shores?
Because Gulf Shores shares the exact same coastal ecosystem as Orange Beach and Perdido Key, anglers target the same prized species. The inshore backwaters hold plenty of redfish, speckled trout, and sheepshead. Deep-sea trips off the Gulf Shores coast focus on bottom fishing for red snapper, gag grouper, and triggerfish, alongside trolling for fast-moving pelagic fish like king mackerel.
Is Orange Beach good for deep sea fishing?
Yes, Orange Beach is one of the premier deep-sea fishing destinations on the entire Gulf Coast. The biggest advantage of fishing this area is Perdido Pass, which provides rapid, direct access to the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. This allows us to reach highly productive natural ledges and artificial reefs quickly, maximizing your time dropping lines for fish rather than riding in the boat.
How much does a fishing charter cost in Perdido Key?
Our trips start at $450 for a 3-hour inshore trip, while a standard 4-hour half-day guided trip begins at $550. If you are looking to target red snapper or head offshore, our 4- to 5-hour trips range from $600 to $1,200 depending on the specific trip type and whether we are fishing state or federal waters. A deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your date.
Can beginners go fishing?
Absolutely. Captain Brian Wass has over 20 years of experience guiding anglers of all skill levels. We provide all the necessary rods, reels, and tackle. If it is your first time, the captain will provide hands-on instruction, bait your lines, and help you land your catch, ensuring a smooth and successful day on the water.
Are family fishing trips available?
Yes, our charters are highly family-friendly, and Captain Brian is known for being patient and helpful with younger anglers. Please note that we fish aboard a 22- to 24-foot center console boat with a maximum capacity of four guests, and there is no restroom on board, so plan accordingly before leaving the dock.
What should I bring on a fishing charter?
We supply all the necessary quality fishing equipment, tackle, and bait. You should bring your own food, snacks, and drinks to stay hydrated. We strongly recommend wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, a hat, polarized sunglasses, and applying sunscreen before stepping on the boat.
Do kids need a fishing license?
When you book a trip with State Line Charters and Guide, you do not need to worry about purchasing individual recreational fishing licenses for anyone in your group, including kids. The required fishing licenses for our guests are completely covered under the boat's commercial charter license for the duration of your trip.
