Perdido Key Fishing Trips FAQs
1. How much does a fishing charter cost in Perdido Key?
Our fishing trips start at $450 for a 3-hour inshore trip. A standard 4-hour half-day guided trip starts at $550. If you are looking to target Red Snapper offshore, 4- to 5-hour trips range from $600 to $1,200 depending on the specific trip type and whether we are fishing state or federal waters. A deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation.
2. Can beginners go fishing?
Absolutely. Captain Brian Wass has over 20 years of experience and regularly guides anglers of all skill levels. We provide all the necessary rods, reels, and tackle. If it is your first time, the captain will provide hands-on instruction, bait your lines, and help you land your catch, ensuring a smooth and successful day on the water.
3. Are family fishing trips available?
Yes, our charters are highly family-friendly. We frequently host families with children, and Captain Brian is known for being patient and helpful with younger anglers. Please note that we fish aboard a 22-foot to 24-foot center console boat with a maximum capacity of four guests, and there is no restroom on board, so plan accordingly before leaving the dock.
4. What should I bring on a fishing charter?
We supply all the necessary quality fishing equipment, tackle, and bait. You should bring your own food, snacks, and drinks to stay hydrated. We strongly recommend wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing (dress in layers if it is chilly), a hat, polarized sunglasses, and sunscreen.
5. Do kids need a fishing license?
When you book a trip with State Line Charters and Guide, you do not need to worry about purchasing individual recreational fishing licenses for anyone in your group, including kids. The required fishing licenses for our guests are completely covered under the boat's commercial charter license for the duration of your trip.
6. Is Orange Beach good for deep sea fishing?
Orange Beach is one of the premier locations on the Gulf Coast for deep sea fishing. Our meeting location on Orange Beach Boulevard offers rapid, direct access to the Gulf of Mexico through Perdido Pass. This allows us to quickly reach productive offshore reefs, wrecks, and structures rather than spending hours just traveling to the fishing grounds.
7. What fish can you catch in Orange Beach?
Your catch depends on the season and whether you choose an inshore or offshore trip. Inshore and back-bay trips frequently yield redfish, speckled trout, black drum, and sheepshead. When heading offshore into the Gulf, we target red snapper, mangrove snapper, king mackerel, amberjack, and cobia.
8. What fish can you catch in Gulf Shores?
Because Gulf Shores shares the same coastal waters as Orange Beach and Perdido Key, the fishery is nearly identical. Inshore waters hold plenty of redfish, flounder, and bluefish. Deep sea trips off the coast of Gulf Shores are excellent for targeting red snapper, king mackerel, amberjack, gag grouper, and blacktip sharks.
